I’ve started to notice that when a tumblr user reblogs a picture of a pretty white ( I guess I have to say “normal” looking even though that’s a shit term) person they don’t comment, but if they reblog anyone who isn’t white or isn’t “normal” they always have to comment like “wow actually…
Actually that’s not even true because usually when it’s a white person especially if it’s a skinny and traditionally pretty white person they’re like OMG FUCK YOU WHITE PRIVILEGE SKINNY PRIVILEGE PRIVILEGE PRIVILEGE PRIVILEGE and I’m like
1. you’re right, that person sucks for being born a certain race/body type/etc…?
2. you’re right, no one is allowed to find that girl attractive because she of the way she looks…?
3. you’re right, it’s not okay for someone to, say, be a model or star in a movie if they have a certain race or body type…?
4. is any of this sounding familiar…?
PS i 100% guarantee that almost none of the people who bitch about that shit on tumblr have experienced any REAL discrimination based on their race or body type or gender or WHATEVER and if they have that still doesn’t mean they have to go making other people feel like shit just for NOT having to go through that. If you think it’s such a big deal, how about you go to a country where people are SO MUCH MORE UNBELIEVABLY OPPRESSED AND UNDERPRIVILEGED THAN YOU COULD POSSIBLY DREAM ABOUT and help them and see their situations and continue to help them, the way I did and am doing, because let me tell you something: since returning from a place where I had sick and starving children literally beg me for water every day, occupy wall street and the people on tumblr bitching about how skinny and white models are seem totally hollow and ignorant. Seeya.
I totally know the type of people you’re talking about, but I think we follow different folks. There are like… two types of people on tumblr. There’s like.. “nutella” world and that’s kinda who you follow and they post chicks with tattoos and vintage photos and they bitch about that shit and I follow pretentious artsy types who hate those people and try so hard to be not those people they end up looking dumb.
But if anyone I follow is looking at this I’m sure it’s not you, cause I unfollow people pretty quick if they are being dumb.
I follow a few of both. So actually the question is: what am I doing with my life
Most of where I see this though is not from people I follow but just when I’m like…out on the (tumblr) town. Because I don’t like to follow ignorant, self-entitled harpies.
